Leading the Way to School Improvement

Making HR the First Step

There is no more important job in any school district than recruiting, selecting, and retaining the next generation of educators -- because nothing is more crucial to improving an organization than ensuring the quality of its people. The teachers and principals you invite to join your schools this year will influence your schools' performance for the next 20-30 years.

But doing more of the same and working harder is not the answer. Whether your challenge is increasing the number of talented applicants, sorting the best from large numbers of applicants, or doing both at the same time, new strategies and systems are needed if you are to work smarter -- and succeed.

Leading the Way to School Improvement challenges conventional wisdom and presents research and practical "how-to" ideas that will transform your recruiting system. You will learn tactics you can use immediately and strategies that will change fundamental assumptions about recruiting, selecting, and retaining great educators.

Designed for superintendents, central administrators, and other district leaders, this learning event covers vital topics, including:

  • why the mission of human resources is critical to school district success
  • why recruiting and selecting teachers is crucial to school success
  • how to do more with less
  • new ways to cope with a seller's market for teachers and principals
  • the importance of selling your school district -- and how to do it
  • how technology can be your friend -- and how TeacherInsight can help
  • how outstanding teachers are different
  • new ways to make your development program a recruiting and retention tool
  • why employee engagement is key to retention and performance

You will learn about Gallup's latest research and best practices in the field, while also discussing key recruiting and selection issues with other participants. In this interactive setting, you'll come away with new insights about your current system, a list of recruiting strategies, and the knowledge to make these strategies impact retention, school culture, and student success.

Leading the Way to School Improvement is for progressive organizations and leaders that need answers to this question: How do I maximize recruiting, selecting, and retaining efforts today to improve school performance in the future?

This event is offered in 1- and 2-day formats:

  • One-day events cover the topics above and encourage interaction between participants. Breakfast and lunch are included.
  • Two-day premier events provide in-depth coverage of each topic and allow more time for district leaders to exchange ideas. In addition, premier events feature best practice presenters -- district leaders who have developed successful and unique recruiting and selection strategies. Breakfast, lunch, and evening social hour will be provided. Information about local hotel accommodations is available on request.

The cost to attend Leading the Way to School Improvement is $295 (U.S.) for the 1-day event or $645 (U.S.) for the 2-day premier event. For more information about event dates and locations, contact the Education Practice at 800.288.8592.
