Hiring the right people for your healthcare organization is just one step in the effort to increase employee engagement and build the best staff possible. Gallup research finds that focusing on the strengths of each individual and positioning employees to have the opportunity to do what they do best every day directly correlates to increased employee engagement. Simply put, strengths-based development improves business outcomes and profitability.
Gallup has proven that the best way to develop employees -- and net the greatest return on investment -- is to focus on each individual's talents (the way a person most naturally thinks, feels, and behaves) and build on those through specific training and education to create strengths. For more than three decades, we have worked with healthcare providers to develop their employees based on their strengths and translate those interventions into positive changes in patient care.
For example, Gallup can help maximize your nursing workforce's potential through a number of strengths-based development initiatives. By focusing on the strengths of your nurses, your organization can realize:
The following programs are a few examples of the strategies Gallup and our partners implement in their organizations to drive positive growth and performance through a focus on strengths-based development:
NurseInsight™
The right nurses make all the difference.
Gallup's NurseInsight provides healthcare organizations with a comprehensive nurse sourcing solution, screening assessment, and hiring decision support system. NurseInsight includes a Web-based talent assessment and reporting system, along with consulting, education for hiring managers, and business impact analysis to ensure effectiveness.
NurseStrengths™
Fixing weakness prevents failure; developing strengths builds excellence.
Research shows that nurses develop rapidly in their areas of strength. Unfortunately, many training and development approaches focus too heavily on making improvements in areas of weakness.
Gallup's Web-based NurseStrengths assessment program, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, measures a nurse's strengths in each of 34 areas specifically defined for nurses. The program also provides participants with a coaching system and e-learning focused on maximizing these strengths to improve individual and organizational performance, which can be optimized by an optional one-on-one coach program with a specialized NurseStrengths coach.Great Nurse Manager Program
Without great nurse managers, success is limited.
Gallup's Great Nurse Manager Program equips nurse managers with the skills to identify -- and the tools and strategies to develop and affect -- employee engagement concepts, in order to unleash the individual and collective potential of their team members.
Nurse managers who participate in the Great Nurse Manager Program increase their nursing teams' engagement through best practices, improve their accountability for achieving goals, and develop better communication and decision-making skills. All of these outcomes drive reduced turnover, positively impact business outcomes, and equip nurses with the skills needed to become future leaders.
The Great Nurse Manager Program is approved for ACHE Category II CEUs.
