Sang M. Lee, Ph.D., is currently the University Eminent Scholar and Regents Distinguished Professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). He also serves as Chair of the Management Department, Executive Director of the Nebraska Productivity and Entrepreneurship Center, and Director of the Center for Albanian Studies.
As a Gallup Senior Scientist, Lee is a professor in the UNL/Gallup MBA/MA program in Executive Leadership. He also advises Gallup on issues related to global strategy and information technology.
Lee is an internationally known expert in the fields of decision sciences, productivity management, and global business. His pioneering work in goal programming and multiple-objective decision making has been widely recognized throughout the world. His research on Eastern Europe's economic transition and development of world-class organizations has been widely published. He has received many honors for his professional work, including the Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge; the Outstanding Research and Creative Activity Award from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; distinguished teaching awards at both the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and UNL; and four honorary doctorates.
Lee has authored or coauthored more than 55 books, mostly in the field of management, has published more than 220 journal articles and 300 original papers, and has presented more than 1,400 speeches. He has visited more than 100 universities around the world as a distinguished visiting scholar and helped establish the first-ever MBA program at the University of Tirana, Albania, and the Ph.D. program in business at Bangkok University, Thailand. Lee has received grants or other funding for projects totaling more than $6 million. He is a frequent consultant and trainer for businesses, nonprofits, and government organizations in the United States and abroad.
Lee is currently president of the Pan-Pacific Business Association, an international scholarly society of 4,000 members in 35 countries. He also served as president of the Decision Sciences Institute and is currently a fellow of the Academy of Management, the Decision Sciences Institute, and the Pan-Pacific Business Association. Lee has organized 30 international conferences as a program chair, is on the editorial board of 23 journals, and has been listed in more than 50 Who's Who publications, including
Who's Who in America.
Lee received his doctorate in management from the University of Georgia in 1969. He was a professor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University before he became a faculty member of UNL in 1976.
