Gallup Daily: Tracking Consumer Confidence

Based on polling conducted Feb. 9-11, 2008

PRINCETON, NJ -- Only one in four Americans call current economic conditions "excellent" or "good" and 79% perceive they are "getting worse." This grim picture of consumer confidence is a notch worse than at the start of the year, but has been quite fixed since mid-January. -- Lydia Saad

Methodology: The results reported here are based on 1,521 interviews conducted Feb. 9-11, 2008. For results based on this sample, the maximum margin of sampling error is ±3 percentage points. In addition to sampling error, question wording and practical difficulties in conducting surveys can introduce error or bias into the findings of public opinion polls.
