During President Barack Obama's fifth year in office, an average of 82% of Democrats and 11% of Republicans approved of the job he was doing as president. That 71-percentage-point party gap is the fourth-largest in Gallup's records.
Republicans and Democrats have starkly differing views of how history will judge the two most recent U.S. presidents, with Republicans expecting Bush to be rated positively and Obama negatively, and Democrats predicting the reverse.
Nearly three-quarters of Americans (74%) believe John F. Kennedy will go down in history as an outstanding or above-average president, a more positive review than any other post-World War II president receives.
