Book Proposals

Author Guidelines

Gallup Press seeks book proposals from writers in the business, academic, and political communities. All books must conform to the parameters of the Gallup Press mission statement.

If you have an idea for a book or have questions about submitting a proposal contact Associate Publisher Piotr J. Juszkiewicz.

Proposals must follow the guidelines below. Submit your proposals to Editorial Director Geoffrey Brewer at:

Proposal Outline

  • Working title
    • Present three potential title/subtitle combinations
  • Brief synopsis (no more than five sentences)
  • Sample chapter
  • Description (five pages) containing:
    • the book's key points
    • reader benefits
    • key sources: companies, executives, researchers
    • conclusions
  • Target audience
    • Who will read this book and why?
    • Estimate of the size of the primary market
    • Your ideas on how to reach the market
  • Competition
    • List a few competitive titles
    • Describe some successful books in this category -- with sales information, if available
    • List major differences between your book and others in the same category
    • How is this book unique?
  • Outline
    • Attach proposed table of contents and summaries of each chapter.
  • Estimated length of the book
  • Estimated delivery date of the book
  • Author's bio and summary of relevant expertise
