Global Attitudes and Behaviors
As the global leader in behavioral economic research, Gallup conducts surveys in more than 150 countries and is committed to doing so for the entire century. Employing gold-standard methodology, this initiative provides a scientific window into the thoughts and behaviors of 98% of the Earth's population through nationally representative samples. It is the only global study of its kind in existence.
Gallup has networks worldwide with 13 city centers in the United States, 29 global offices, and affiliate and partner organizations in more than 65 countries. In addition, Gallup analysts and researchers possess thorough knowledge of their regions and extensive experience surveying throughout urban and rural areas.
Job Creation
Gallup works with small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to help them grow and provide quality work. SMEs typically account for the majority of a country's job creation, but they also face the most barriers to growth. These enterprises can rarely afford the cost of consulting services or change initiatives large companies commonly use. Gallup is committed to using its best behavioral metrics and tools to help SMEs identify and solve problems inhibiting job creation, resulting in dividends for the local economy.
Additionally, Gallup measures and tracks employment rates in more than 150 countries and areas, providing unprecedented insight to the employment status of residents around the world. By surveying the global population about personal job status, Gallup's employment indexes fill a void in many countries where employment data are limited or unavailable, especially in developing regions of sub-Saharan Africa. Gallup's global employment indexes allow countries to more accurately measure and to better understand their current employment situation and to identify pathways for improvement.
Muslim Studies
The Gallup Center for Muslim Studies is a nonpartisan research center dedicated to providing data-driven analysis, advice, and education about the views of Muslim populations around the world. The Center informs the global community about Muslims' opinions and beliefs, often correcting common public misperceptions, on such topics as employment and entrepreneurship, global coexistence, education, religion, culture, democracy, and the media.
Gallup's Center for Muslim Studies employs a talented group of analysts, researchers, academics, and scholars with more than 100 years of collective experience. The Center's project analysts are fluent in Arabic, English, and French. These individuals have earned a reputation with leaders, decision makers, media, think groups, and the public as a source for expert research and analysis and objective commentary on issues pertaining to the world's Muslim populations.
City Prosperity
Gallup metrics and research-based consulting help cities grow and prosper. Historically, leaders have focused on traditional indicators such as GDP, unemployment, educational test scores, and literacy levels to assess the health of cities. Behavioral economics research, however, demonstrates the limitations of these traditional measures. Gallup expertise on community attachment, economic competitiveness, and talent and innovation informs and empowers leaders to create healthy and economically vibrant cities that attract and retain top talent.
Additionally, the Gallup Student Poll measures and tracks hope, engagement, and wellbeing in schools to help students become creative, productive, and healthy members of their community. These metrics create the connection between what is happening in schools to the wider community as well as adding a new perspective on teacher quality and school environment.
Global Migration
Gallup's data on global migration trends offer leaders intelligence about whether their country is positioned to attract or lose important human capital. These data also empower leaders to develop proactive strategies to integrate migrants into their societies and identify dynamics that contribute to their residents' desire to leave.
Gallup expertise covers multiple aspects of migration, including who wants to migrate permanently or temporarily for work and study, where, and why, and who is actively planning to leave the country. This research reveals that 15% -- or roughly 700 million -- of adults worldwide would like to move to another country permanently if they had the chance. One of Gallup's migration measures -- the Potential Net Migration Index -- helps countries understand the potential effect of such population gain or loss. Gallup also analyzes the interlinked topics of social networks, remittances, existing migration flow of temporary workers, and attitudes toward migrants in destination countries.
Wellbeing
Gallup's global wellbeing metrics are the first comprehensive measure of the behavioral economics of gross national wellbeing, which lays the foundation for all other measures of a country's economic strength. Tracking wellbeing provides an assessment of respondents' experiences. These measures encompass interconnected elements that contribute to health, happiness, and productivity, including work, social networks, personal economics, personal health, and resident engagement.
In the United States, the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index is the first daily assessment of Americans' health and wellbeing. The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index project expanded in 2011 to provide leaders in the United Kingdom and Germany with timely, comprehensive data about their residents' wellbeing. By interviewing no fewer than 1,000 U.S. adults every day and 1,000 adults in the U.K. and Germany every month, the Well-Being Index provides real-time measurement and insights into improving residents' health, increasing human capital, and lowering healthcare costs. Public and private-sector leaders use information from the Well-Being Index to develop and prioritize strategies to help their communities thrive and grow. Journalists, academics, and medical experts benefit from an unprecedented resource of health statistics and behavioral economic data to inform their research and reporting.
