Americans remain solidly behind U.S. military efforts in Afghanistan, and a slight majority would support sending additional troops there, or moving troops from Iraq to Afghanistan, to help fight al Qaeda forces in that country. By a slim margin, the public says it would support military action against terrorists in Pakistan if the government had intelligence about terrorists there and the Pakistani government refused to act.More ...

New Gallup World Poll data reveal that, despite media reports that Afghanistan is in a state of near-anarchy, perceptions of security among the Afghan people vary widely by region, religion, and ethnicity. Overall, 53% of Afghans say security is better now that it was under the Taliban's regime; however, that number drops to just 25% among those living in the South.More ...
