South Koreans favor reunification despite the perceived burden
Recent Gallup World Poll data suggest that the majority of South Koreans want the two Koreas unified despite their expectation of heavy cost to the South. Considering the geopolitical position of a unified Korea and resulting implications for U.S. interests in the region, South Koreans' changing perceptions of the superpowers surrounding the Korean peninsula may be a concern to the United States.

More than 8 of 10 favor diplomacy or doing nothing at this time
The overwhelming majority of Americans believe that the United States should explore diplomatic solutions in response to the North Korean missile tests last week, rather than launching either an air or ground military attack. Despite North Korea's failed missile launch and the attention it has received in the news, Americans' already negative views of North Korea have not changed materially.
