Building the Strengths-Based Organization

Building the Strengths-Based Organization expands on the strengths development concepts presented in the bestselling book, Now, Discover Your Strengths, by Gallup experts Marcus Buckingham and Donald O. Clifton, Ph.D. In 2002, Dr. Clifton was cited as the "Father of Strengths-Based Psychology" in an American Psychological Association Presidential Commendation.

The program provides executives and managers with knowledge and strategies to create, implement, and sustain a high-performance culture:

  • Hold all employees accountable for their local performance outcomes.
  • Teach all employees to identify, deploy, and develop their strengths.
  • Align all performance appraisal and review systems around identifying, deploying, and developing employee strengths.
  • Design and build each role to create world-class performers in the role.

Prior to attending, participants complete Gallup's Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment and gain access to a two-hour developmental e-learning course.

  • The Clifton StrengthsFinder provides participants with insights into their greatest areas of talent.
  • The e-learning course introduces participants to the basics of strengths theory and strengths-based development concepts.

Each participant's team members are asked to complete a Gallup Q 12employee engagement survey.

  • The Q 12 employee engagement report reveals how the participant's management style influences team member perceptions and employee engagement.

During the course, executives and managers learn about their talents and strengths, gain insights for personal and professional development, and acquire strategies to increase their workgroup's performance and engagement through group instruction, one-on-one consulting, and small group interaction.

  • Gallup Executive Consultants use each participant's Clifton StrengthsFinder and employee engagement data to help participants become more effective as managers and formulate their Four Disciplines change strategy.

Course length: 2.5 days
Tuition: $5,000

CEUs: approved by American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) for Category II continuing education credit
