Question & Answer

Q: What do you do at Gallup?

A: I work on our higher education team supporting our college and university partners. I work with both current and prospective clients, so my role is a balance of both sales and account management. Through the lens of CliftonStrengths, I empower universities to engage their students and provide them with the best collegiate experience possible. By helping students learn how to develop and leverage their strengths and by helping them really identify what type of careers they'd be good at or that they'd find most meaningful, I'm helping ensure students are set up for success in life.

Q: What has been one of your favorite projects at Gallup?

A: One of the most fascinating projects I've worked on at Gallup was called the Gallup-Purdue Index. Through data and research, we identified the six college experiences that have the highest impact on students' long-term engagement and well-being later in life. We discovered that these experiences were more emotional and experiential and less about where you went to school, what classes you took or what grades you received. That really resonated with me because when I think back on my undergraduate experience, I was really involved on campus and had some great professors who really cared about me -- those factors really made a difference for me! It's important to me that every college student on every college campus gets to have the best experience, and it starts with being intentional about setting students up for success.

Q: How do you bring Gallup's mission to life?

A: As a college student, it's easy to focus solely on getting good grades, but our research says students need to think beyond just GPAs. I help faculty and staff on campus think holistically about what the college experience should look like and how can we can ensure that these students walk away from campus with a valuable experience. From teaching career services how to help a student navigate the career search process to helping students be able to communicate the potential value they'd bring to an employer during an interview, I change the world by helping students thrive.

Q: How would you describe Gallup's culture?

A: At Gallup, we're pretty forward-thinking in the way we think about culture. People here are really passionate about mission and purpose. Yes, a paycheck is important, but it's more than that -- it's about the impact we all make. The way we view relationships is pretty great too. Instead of thinking of our managers as bosses, we view them more as coaches. In fact, we call managers here our "Go Tos" because they're people you go to for guidance, help, support or development. It's a really welcoming culture where your coworkers are more than just people you work with -- some of them are actually your best friends. It's really engaging environment when you enjoy the people you work with.
