Q: What do you do at Gallup?

A: I'm a senior consultant at Gallup, and my focus is on cultural transformation projects. In my role, I look into the way an organization runs its "people functions," starting with onboarding to an employee's exit from a company, and then everything in between. From there, we figure out what needs to change so that an organization can thrive. The hardest thing to shift is senior leaders' paradigm, mindset and behaviors. But CliftonStrengths is that catalyst because it opens the gate for people to change.

I'm also a strengths coach. I coach executives and senior managers all over the world, ranging from the Middle East to Greece to New York to London. It's the thing I love most about my job. Coaching someone based on their strengths opens the door for the biggest impact you can have with a client because it's extremely personal. In the Middle East, it's hard to be exposed, and people are not comfortable being that transparent. But when you get in, you completely change their lives. Helping people understand their strengths as a positive and see where there are blind spots is the best part of my job.

Q: What made you want to join Gallup?

A: Gallup's vision to change people through people attracted me to this organization. I was, and still am, motivated by changing people. I read a copy of Gallup's First, Break All the Rules book and was blown away. The book is such a change in how one sees the workplace. It's all about what separates the greatest managers from all the rest, and the philosophy is just astonishing. I remember thinking, "If that's the culture that truly exists at Gallup, that's what I want to be a part of." Once I joined Gallup, I learned, that's definitely our culture!

Q: Why do you continue to work here?

A: At Gallup, you really do have the opportunity to change people's lives -- it's real, and it's not theory-based, it's science-based. All of our philosophies and practices are rooted in data and applicable science. From how we hire to how we develop our people, it's all been strategically created to ensure that we have the best of the best.

Q: What qualities do people need to be successful here?

A: You have to listen: to your team, to the market, to your clients. Listening is fundamental. You can't just listen to what they are telling you -- you also have to listen to what they're not saying.

Another quality people need to have to be successful at Gallup is an ability to find your own niche. What are you good at? What do you do better than anyone else? Once you know your niche, you'll do very well at Gallup.

Q: What are your favorite parts of your job and workplace?

A: Your future is what you make it at Gallup. For some, this may be uncomfortable because there's no standard development path. Your career is really what you make of it, and the sky is the limit. I don't see any obstacles in my future, and that's because it's my own design. If there's an obstacle in my path, it's likely there because I put it there. I feel really fortunate to work in our Bahrain office where we're a smaller office, and I truly have the opportunity to try anything. Our clients are open to exploring new ventures, which makes for a lot of exciting partnerships.

Q: What's your favorite thing about your team?

A: The people I work with are my family. My manager is amazing. He manages by looking at our individual strengths and talents. I've never had a mentor like him in my life. He knows how I react, what I'm good at and where I struggle, and from there, he helps me succeed.

Q: What are three words you would use to describe what it's like to work here?

A: Challenging, limitless and talent-driven.

Q: What are your biggest motivators at work?

A: My peers are my biggest motivators at Gallup. They challenge me to be my best every day, and I never want to let them down. Likewise, the success of my peers is equally important to my personal motivation. Every day I want to see them be successful, so I make sure I'm working extra hard to set them up for success.
