On a recent Theme Thursday Season 1 live webcast, we discussed the Discipline theme with Gallup Wellness Coordinator Ryan Wolf.

People with strong Discipline talents love things that are organized and orderly. They meet deadlines. And they can efficiently manage limited resources. They bring a high level of organization, order and stability to the projects and groups in which they work.

Gallup Senior Learning and Developing Consultant Curt Liesveld says that people who have high Discipline are great at managing limited resources by creating a plan and following it. They often bring order to chaos to get things done. Listed in the Executing domain, Discipline's key purpose is that it helps people be more productive when used properly.

Curt says that Discipline talents in the raw form tend to make people feel anxious and nervous when disorder is present. When those Discipline talents are developed and mature, that anxiety goes away. Instead of seeing chaos as a bad thing, it becomes an opportunity to create structure out of the situation.

Ryan discussed the role Discipline plays in his life, telling us that even at a young age he would meticulously organize his baseball card collection. In his working life, Ryan said it's very important for him to have the week laid out in advance. Whereas those without high Discipline may find routines dull and redundant, Ryan's Discipline talents allow him to embrace such routine.

To hear more about Discipline and how people like Ryan use it in their everyday lives, watch the full video or listen to the audio above.

Ryan Wolf's Top 5 CliftonStrengths are Discipline, Achiever, Futuristic, Activator and Harmony.
