I've been working as a consultant and coach for almost 20 years now for all type of businesses (from small, local and family-owned to very large, international and publicly listed corporations) and with every level within the company (from the working floor over middle management all the way up to the Executive Board level).  

During these years, I’ve become ever more surprised with the focus companies and leaders (at various levels) seem to have on individual weaknesses and how to address these. I found that working on these lesser capabilities mostly delivered mitigated results where typically people tend to fall back to old behaviors and habits in the months following the departure of the coach / consultant and/or the end of the project.  

In business, we all strive for the best result possible. Strangely, we try to do this by making sure we all can do everything good instead of focusing on maximising our strengths and complementing our lesser capabilities with the strengths of others.
