Gallup will host a briefing session with Randall J. Beck, a managing partner of Gallup, and Jim Harter, Ph.D., chief scientist of workplace management and well-being for Gallup, regarding analytics and advice to help leaders understand:

  • why great managers are so rare and why organizations have a hard time finding them
  • what employees want from their managers
  • what impact disengaged managers have on employee engagement
  • why women are better managers than men
  • what the best do differently to find, retain and grow great managers

Gallup data has shown that only one in 10 people possess high talent to manage, and that companies fail to choose the appropriate manager with the right talent 82% of the time. Gallup's latest report, State of the American Manager: Analytics and Advice for Leaders, provides an in-depth look at what characterizes great managers and gives organizations the knowledge to find, hire and develop more great managers using Gallup's accumulated analytics and advice as their guide.

This report is based on over four decades of extensive talent research, a study of 2.5 million manager-led teams in 195 countries and analysis from measuring the engagement of 27 million employees. It examines the crucial link between talent, engagement and vital business outcomes such as profitability and productivity.

We look forward to seeing you on September 9, 2015 to learn more about Gallup's Report, State of the American Manager: Advice and Analytics for Leaders.
