Gallup Singapore Privacy Statement

This Privacy Statement ("Statement") describes how Gallup Singapore Pte. Ltd. 1 Marina Boulevard, #18-02, Singapore 018989 and its affiliates (collectively, "Gallup", "we", "us", or "our") collect, use, disclose and otherwise process personal data in Singapore in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). The PDPA governs the collection, use and disclosure of personal data by organisations in Singapore and establishes obligations regarding consent, purpose limitation, notification, access and correction, protection, retention, and transfer of personal data.

This Statement applies to all personal data in our possession or under our control, including personal data handled by third parties engaged by us to process personal data for our purposes.

Personal Data

By using the term "Personal Data" in our Privacy Statement, we refer to information that you individually provide to Gallup, either directly or indirectly, whether true or not, that, on its own or in combination with other information, can be used to identify you or make you identifiable, to which we have or are likely to have access. Personal Data includes, for example, your name, your mailing address, your telephone number, your email address or other information that identifies you or makes you identifiable.

Information that by itself cannot be used to identify you or make you identifiable does not qualify as Personal Data.

I. INFORMATION COLLECTED BY GALLUP

Gallup collects information in two ways:

  1. Information Collected Indirectly (through website technologies); and
  2. Information Collected Directly (when you voluntarily provide information).

1. Information Collected Indirectly

Gallup indirectly collects a variety of information through your interaction with and use of Gallup websites. This information may include, but is not limited to:

  • Browser and device information (e.g., browser type, operating system)
  • Data collected through automated technologies such as cookies, pixels and similar tracking tools
  • Application and website usage data
  • IP address and approximate location information
  • Demographic information
  • Information about your preferences or interactions with our content
  • Statistical or aggregated information

Where such information is combined with Personal Data, it will be treated as Personal Data.

Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies

2. Information Collected Directly

Gallup also collects Personal Data and other information that users voluntarily provide. Providing Personal Data is generally voluntary; however, if you choose not to provide certain information, we may be unable to provide specific products or services.

We may collect Personal Data when you:

  • Register for an account
  • Participate in surveys or assessments
  • Contact us or request information
  • Register for events
  • Apply for employment
  • Enter into agreements with us

Personal Data collected may include:

  • Name and contact details
  • Professional and employment information
  • Billing and transaction information
  • Survey responses
  • Communications with us

We treat Personal Data as confidential and implement reasonable security arrangements to protect it in accordance with the PDPA. We use Personal Data for the purposes notified at or before the time of collection, unless otherwise permitted or required under the PDPA.

Where required under the PDPA, we will obtain your consent before using your Personal Data for any new purpose.

You may withdraw your consent to the collection, use or disclosure of your Personal Data at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Upon withdrawal of consent, we will cease collecting, using or disclosing your Personal Data unless otherwise required or permitted by law. Withdrawal of consent may affect our ability to provide certain services.

If you provide Personal Data relating to a third party, you represent that you have obtained appropriate consent from that individual to disclose such data to us.

2.1 User Account Data

When setting up an account on one of the Gallup websites ("User Account"), you may be asked to provide Personal Data including, but not limited to, your name, email address, and telephone number. If you purchase products, services, access codes, or other items offered by Gallup, you may also be required to provide billing information and payment details.

We collect and use User Account Personal Data for purposes including:

  • Providing the products and services you request;
  • Managing your account and transactions;
  • Communicating with you regarding your account, services, or policy updates;
  • Providing support, including product updates, technical assistance, and related communications;
  • Administrative, risk management, and compliance purposes.

Where permitted under the PDPA, we may also use User Account Personal Data to inform you about Gallup services, subject to applicable consent and Do Not Call requirements.

User Account Personal Data will be retained for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected or as required by applicable law.

2.2 Other Personal Data Provided Directly

Personal Data provided by you through contact forms, telephone communications, event registrations, or other interactions will be collected and stored in our systems for the purposes for which it was provided, and retained in accordance with our retention obligations under the PDPA.

2.3 SMS Messaging

Gallup may collect your mobile phone number in connection with your job application or the creation of a User Account. We use this information for transactional and account-related purposes, such as verifying your identity, providing updates regarding your account or application, and responding to your inquiries.

By providing your mobile number, you consent to receiving SMS messages for these purposes where required under applicable law. Standard message and data rates may apply.

You may opt out of receiving SMS messages by following the instructions provided in the message; however, this may affect our ability to communicate with you regarding your account or services.

Gallup may engage third-party service providers to deliver SMS communications on our behalf. Such providers are required to use your Personal Data only for the purpose of providing services to Gallup and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

II. PURPOSES OF COLLECTION, USE AND DISCLOSURE

Gallup collects, uses and discloses Personal Data for purposes including:

  • Providing products, services, surveys and assessments
  • Managing accounts and relationships
  • Communicating with you
  • Processing transactions
  • Conducting research and analytics
  • Improving our services (business improvement purposes under PDPA)
  • Risk management, fraud prevention, and compliance
  • Responding to legal or regulatory requirements
  • Marketing communications (subject to consent and DNC compliance)
  • Corporate transactions (including mergers, acquisitions, restructuring)

We will notify you of the purposes for which your Personal Data is collected at or before the time of collection.

Many Gallup websites offer users the opportunity to participate in surveys or assessments via the internet. Gallup will provide information about the purpose and process for each survey or assessment as part of the applicable survey or assessment.

1. Access to Your Survey or Assessment Results From Another User Account

Another online user may purchase an access code to a Gallup survey or assessment for you. Please note that when participating in a survey or assessment, your results will also be accessible to the online user who purchased the Gallup access code. The data accessible to that account holder may include your name and your results, but will not include your specific answers to individual questions within the survey or assessment. In addition, the account holder cannot modify, alter, or delete any of your results or User Account data.

After completion of the survey or assessment, you will at all times have the opportunity to change the settings for sharing your results with other account holders and to opt out from sharing your results.

2. Sharing Your Survey Results With Other People

After completion of the survey or assessment, you may have the opportunity to share your survey or assessment results via email or social networks. Please note that only your name and results will be displayed. By sharing your information from your User Account with any social media service, you authorise us to share information we collect from and about you with the social media service provider and other users in accordance with your settings. The social media service's use of shared information will be governed by its privacy policy. If you do not want your Personal Data shared in this way, please do not connect your Gallup information to a social media service provider.

III. GENERAL INFORMATION ON COLLECTION AND PROCESSING OF INFORMATION

1. Correcting and Changing User Information and Preferences; Deletion of User Accounts

If you have consented to receiving marketing or other communications from Gallup but wish to withdraw your consent and discontinue this service, you may do so at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions provided or by contacting us (see also below clause III.7 "Your Rights").

You also have the option at any time to request correction of your Personal Data or to request deletion of your User Account and associated Personal Data, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and our retention obligations under the PDPA.

2. Information Security

Gallup employees understand the need for user privacy, and we maintain reasonable security arrangements to protect your Personal Data against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction, taking into account the risks involved and the nature of the Personal Data. Access to user data is strictly limited to authorized personnel who require such information for business purposes.

However, no security measure or method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect Personal Data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

3. Third-Party Information Storage

We may provide Personal Data to our affiliates and trusted service providers to process it on our behalf and in accordance with this Privacy Statement. Such service providers are contractually required to protect Personal Data and use it only for the purposes for which it was disclosed.

Where Personal Data is transferred outside Singapore, Gallup will take appropriate steps to ensure that the recipient provides a standard of protection comparable to that required under the PDPA.

4. Children and Privacy

Gallup encourages parents and guardians to supervise their children's online activities. Gallup websites do not contain content generally considered unsuitable for children.

5. Links to Other Sites

Gallup websites may contain links to sites owned and/or operated by other organizations. These sites may collect and use data in ways that differ from Gallup's practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of all third-party sites you visit.

6. Location of Data Collection, Processing and Storage

Gallup operates globally. Personal Data collected in Singapore may be processed by Gallup or its affiliates in Singapore or in other countries in which Gallup maintains operations. Gallup will ensure that any overseas transfers are made in compliance with the PDPA's transfer limitation obligations.

Gallup retains Personal Data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law.

7. Your Rights

Under the PDPA, you have the right to:

  • Request access to Personal Data that we hold about you;
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data;
  • Withdraw your consent to the collection, use or disclosure of your Personal Data at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.

Requests may be subject to a reasonable administrative fee as permitted under the PDPA.

If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Commission of Singapore.

Where permitted under the PDPA, Gallup may rely on statutory exceptions to collect, use or disclose Personal Data without consent, including for contractual necessity, legal compliance, legitimate interests or business improvement purposes.

If you do not wish to receive direct marketing communications from Gallup, you may opt out at any time by contacting us.

8. Dispute Resolution

If you have any complaints regarding our compliance with this Privacy Statement, please contact us first. We will investigate and attempt to resolve complaints in accordance with this Policy.

9. "Do Not Track" Signals

Some internet browsers incorporate a "Do Not Track" feature. Given that there is no uniform industry standard for responding to such signals, Gallup websites do not currently alter their practices when such signals are received.

10. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in significant harm to individuals or is of significant scale, Gallup will notify the Personal Data Protection Commission of Singapore and affected individuals in accordance with the PDPA.

11. Policy Updates

Additional information that is particular to specific Gallup websites may exist, and updates to this policy may be posted. For these reasons, we suggest that users who may have specific concerns about the information being gathered and use of that information regularly view the Privacy Statement on each website. Gallup reserves the right to change the policy on use of information collected at any time by posting an updated version on each website. If required by law, we will provide you with notice of any update.
