This 2025 Gallup-SCSP study investigates how Americans perceive AI’s potential to reshape global power, defense, and the U.S. economy. Key findings reveal that while most adults see AI as crucial for the nation’s future, opinions are divided over whether the U.S. is leading or lagging in global competition.

Americans express optimism about AI’s ability to drive productivity and economic growth, but many are concerned about job losses and national security threats.

The research highlights generational divides, support for multilateral AI development, and strong endorsement of workforce training programs to manage AI-driven changes. Results are based on a nationally representative web survey of 3,128 U.S. adults conducted in April-May 2025.
