Q: What do you do at Gallup?
A: I'm a technical lead at Gallup, so I manage projects related to the Gallup store, Access code management and strengths on Gallup Access, an online platform that empowers organizations to turn human potential into business performance. My responsibilities include prioritizing and defining work and answering technical or business-related questions for the team. I also plan work for the team for each release and make sure quality code is deployed to production, as well as design and architect new projects or features.
Q: How is what you're doing at Gallup helping us fulfill our mission?
A: One of the ways we change the world is by empowering people to know and understand what they do best. I work on projects that allow customers to access our CliftonStrengths® assessment and visualize and enhance their strengths. I build tools that provide users with their strengths as easily and quickly as possible. It makes me feel really great that I'm part of Gallup's mission by helping people around the world understand and strengthen their innate talents.
Q: What's been one of your favorite projects at Gallup?
A: Years ago, we migrated the data from Gallup Strengths Center to Gallup Access, and it's one of my favorite projects because it was challenging. We had to integrate with a third-party payment system for the first time. As with any third-party integration, it involved a lot of back and forth between the Gallup team and the third-party payment system team. Also, we wanted to make the application more modern, so we introduced ASP.NET Core and React along with the latest AWS Services. On top of all that, the release timeline was very strict. I like projects that are challenging, so I had a lot of fun working on this project.
Q: What makes Gallup's technology environment unique?
A: I worked for multiple organizations before joining Gallup, and without thinking for a second, I can say Gallup's technology environment is unique because we use the latest and greatest technologies as they become available in the market. That helps us stay ahead of the curve and allows us to work with really exciting technologies.
Q: What's it like to work at Gallup?
A: Working at Gallup is challenging and fun at the same time. I've made a lot of good friends and a lot of connections. I work with a team of high achievers with exceptional problem-solving ability -- we work together for a common goal to keep clients and users happy. I am so grateful to work for a company that puts so much importance on culture and diversity, and I'm always around a diverse group of coworkers and managers.
Q: What are some of your favorite things about your team?
A: I lead a team of individuals who are smart and hardworking. The best part of the team is that we all help each other to be successful.
Q: What are you most excited about in terms of upcoming projects and the overall direction of technology?
A: I really like the direction of the Technology team at Gallup -- we are so integrated into [our cloud computing platform] that handling complex tasks is easy. Our Technology leadership has goals and expectations that make everybody's job clear. I'm excited about our latest technology integration project, which will enhance communication across teams.
Q: What do you do when you're not at Gallup?
A: I enjoy going for a walk or a hike. I try to minimize screen time when outside of work, and I enjoy spending time with my family. If weather permits, I enjoy biking with my wife; otherwise, we're happy watching something on TV. I have a 1-year-old daughter, and these days, I'm busy with her when I'm at home.
