As Vice President of Patient Care Services for Virginia Mason Medical Center, Shelly has oversight responsibility for the Department of Primary Care, Regional Medical Centers, Palliative Care and the organization’s Population Health initiative. Shelly has held a variety of leadership roles in Ambulatory Care and Human Resources. Since its inception in 2001, Shelly has been a leader in teaching and applying the Virginia Mason Production System (VMPS), a "lean" management method that seeks to continually improve how care is delivered. Shelly joined Virginia Mason in 1997. She has her Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from University of Utah, and her Master's In Organizational Development from Seattle University. Shelly uses her skills as a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach to grow leader confidence and competence and build community in her organization.
