  • Season 3, Episode 14
  • Learn about a unique Gallup-University of Nebraska-Lincoln partnership that will create a strengths center and a strengths-permeated curriculum.

On a recent episode of Called to Coach, we spoke with Gallup Senior Scientist Shane Lopez, Ph.D.

Dr. Lopez began by talking about the unique partnership between Gallup and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, which will host one of the first strengths centers on a college campus. The university will dedicate this space to helping develop students' strengths from the day they arrive on campus until the day they start their first jobs.

One of the more powerful initiatives within this collaboration is the permeation of strengths into the curriculum. Standard convention is that all students in a class do the same work. But in the strengths environment, students will have the opportunity to choose from a list of assignments, taking on the one that best fits their natural talents.

Not only will this strengths center benefit students as they navigate the waters of everyday college life, but it will also have a massive impact on how they find a job after graduation. From career and internship placement to the actual job interview, strengths counselors will be in place to ensure that each student can productively apply their strengths to land a job and have a successful career.

To learn more about Dr. Lopez and how he uses strengths to help people live happier, more productive lives, watch the full video or listen to the audio above.

Shane Lopez's Top 5 CliftonStrengths are Futuristic, Maximizer, Arranger, Ideation and Strategic.
